World famous Yosemite Black Slate Stone, also called Mariposa Slate Stone by some stone yards, this is beautiful slate material from the Yosemite Valley, the heart of the Southern Sierra Nevada Gold Country. This California slate has an intermediate hardness between mica schists and shale. It is available in both random flagging and tumbled stone. While slate is generally used for patios, pathways and stone veneer, it can be used indoors as well. This charcoal gray to black stone can be colored lightly to heavy with iron oxide.
